Emergency Services

Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital is improving our Emergency Department (ED) services to better serve our community. We're now staffed with well-regarded emergency medicine physicians and have introduced a new hospitalist program to provide integrated, collaborative care for Emergency Department patients, as well as those who are staying in the hospital.

Emergency Department physicians see patients in the ED and also extend care if patients are admitted. This new process benefits patients in several ways:

Hospitalists are knowledgeable about the patient's condition and all aspects of his or her needs.
Hospitalists coordinate with other caregivers in the hospital, such as nursing, physical therapy,    dietary, pharmacy, and social services for a holistic approach.
Hospitalists are more readily available for hospitalized patients than doctors who have outside    offices.
The patient's own doctor will resume care after discharge, but if a patient doesn't have a    physician, the hospitalist will help choose a provider.
